End of the Skally(NP Duluth line) |
Description: |
This was the first place the line was severed at Frost Avenue in North St. Paul, MN over the winter of 86-87 when they rebuilt the road. The Soo Line Chicago to St. Paul line used to cross up near the Gloster sign. It was sad to see this neat ABS mainline removed when it had just hosted 6-8 trains a day 2 years earlier. |

Strike training train |
Description: |
In the late winter of 1986-87, Soo Line conducted some management training operations from Withrow to Somerset, WI in anticipation of a strike and used this empty ballast train and a couple GP38-2s and ran several trips over the high bridge. The line had been out of service for the good part of a year, so this was the first train to cross and the line then went dormant again until WC took over later in 1987. |
