Wonder how old
Title:  Wonder how old
Description:  The patent number on this switchstand is just shy of 2,000,000. I wonder what year that would place it in?? Im guessing close to the turn of the century-the last one.

Home town heritage
Title:  Home town heritage
Description:  Many places make some effort to show their railroad history, whether it be a steam engine in a park, a restored station, or just some equipment on a siding. Needles had a siding full of equipment, but I was on a "geezer" tour, and didnt have time during this meal break to go check out the whole display. I was able to get this shot of a nicely painted ATSF box from the McDonalds parking lot. Oh well....

Storage unit
Title:  Storage unit
Description:  Or, how we did things before PODs. This car has been on this property as long as I can remember-Ive lived in town for 16 years-but only recently did the home owner clear off the brush to reveal enough of the car to merit a photo. Hard to tell what road it was from-the paint is faded to almost gone-but it may have been CNW. In a yard along Country Club Rd.

Pennsy power??
Title:  Pennsy power??
Description:  Doesnt look like it, but the type face on the number looks like it could be. We stopped near Mansfield for gas and a Mc Donalds tea off I 71, and saw this up on the hill behind the Mc Donalds, carrying a banner for the diner it was in front of. Any ideas on what the heritage of this engine is, please comment.

Close up view
Title:  Close up view
Description:  A closer view of the steam engine behind the Mc Donalds in Mansfield. The RRPA system identifies the Pennsy engine with this number as a 4-4-2, but I can clearly see there are at least six driving wheels, and it may be a 2-8-0. I suspect the number may not be the engine's actual number, or it's not a PRR engine, which I suspect is the case. The fall color in the background is absolutely authentic!!

Yard box
Title:  Yard box
Description:  Boxcars have been used as storage units as long as there have been box cars. This one is in a yard in Siloam Springs. Ive shot it before, from a more end-on angle. The sun was good this day for a broadside view of this ex CNW 60 foot box. Too bad the car number is eroded off.
