Album Info:Here are the front cover and a 24-page cover article entitled "Horseshoe Curve: 150 Years." They were published in the August 2004 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 38-61. No author is specified. "If railroading had an Olympic amphitheater, this would be it: the Horseshoe Curve. Physical endurance is an unquestioned requirement for the machines that drag thousands of tons of freight up the Allegheny Mountains, while mental stamina is the key to victory for the railroaders behind the controls, manipulating throttle and brake, lining the routes of trains, checking the gauge of track, and keeping the motive power and rolling stock in peak physical condition. It's an Olympic marathon that plays out in slow motion, where the struggle between time and topography is measured in the decibels of laboring locomotives and the squealing of flanges of wheels rounding the tight mountain curve. And the drama is timeless. . . ." (Page 41)
