Santa Fe 4-8-4 #2925 "hidden"
Title:  Santa Fe 4-8-4 #2925 "hidden"
Description:  There was big excitement in Texas when it was heard that the Santa Fe was considering their own steam program and had moved Northern #2925 to the large shops at Cleburne for evaluation. Either the restoration cost was to much or they just decided against running their own steam and the idea was scrapped. #2925 remained at Cleburne for quite a while (early 80's?) before returning to Belen and eventually to Sacramento in 1986. Anyway, on one of my Houston-Cleburne roundtrip rides aboard the Lone Star I decided to sneak around the yard to locate the engine (actually the friendly crews working the yard pointed out the location). It remained under cover -- here under one of the old wood sheds.
