Description:  The engine that wolud go on to make me a Southern Railway fan, the CAGY 701. Ex SOU (CNO&TP) 6247. Unfortunately almost 4 1/2 years after this picture was taken, it and the unit behind it were scrapped in April 2009. Luckily though the scrapper allowed me to get the number boards so I have that if nothing else.

Description:  Having suffered a generator failure in 1988 and never having had one replaced, this unit has set inside the roundhouse awaiting one but has recently feen sold for scrap. The 8o1 met the torch and was scrapped all in one day on 4/17/2009.

Description:  The front nose of the 701 lies in a pile of scrap years after rolling off the LaGrange floor in 1955. In her 40 some odd years of opperation she served the Southern Railway and the C&G well but in the end fate won out.
