Description:
Chicago Transit Authority S-332 in the lower yard at 63rd Street in Chicago, Illinois on March 14, 1965, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The number 1753 can be seen in the upper window behind the first side door. Number 1753 was built in 1906 by the Jewett Car Company of Newark, Ohio for the Northwestern Elevated Railroad Company of Chicago, one of 34 motor carw ordered. The cars were numbered 735-768, later renumbered to 1735-1768. In 1928 the two GE traction motors were replaced with Westinghouse motors and control equipment. In 1957 1753 was converted to work motor S-332, rebuilt to Derrick Car S-332 in 1965, equipped with 6000 series couplers in November 1975.
