Title:
On the Corridor
Description:
At CR startup, Amtrak got the Corridor, and CR was a tenant. Ultimately, this moved freight off the corridor to a large degree, as Amtrak raised the wheelage rates to a point that was not economical. There was still a fair amount of local traffic, which was served from a variety of yards. This is one of the locals, with a U23B and U30B working south of Newark Penn Station. McCarter Highway is the bridge at left. Note the EL box at right.
