KCCX 762, electric locomotive |
Description: |
KCCX 762, working for Kennecott Copper, was the only electric locomotive I've ever seen. It's working upgrade with a cut of ore cars, literally in the middle of a mountain. I lost count of how many trains, electric- and diesel-powered, were running when I saw this operation. Date is uncertain, but it's probably the summer of 1980 or 1983. |

KCCX 85T #763 - Kdnnecott Utah Copper Co |
Description: |
Originally built by GE in February of 1942 for the Bingham Utah Copper Mine, it became part of the Kennecott organization later. The unit was retired on 8/16/1982. Interesting note - Kennecott data shows these units as 90 tons; GE data shows them as 85 tons. Unknown photographer and date is approximate. |
