ACFX Tank Car 17785
Title:  ACFX Tank Car 17785
Description:  ACFX 8-axle tank car 17785 was photographed on Conrail at Reading, Pennsylvania. This 42,473-gallon car had a CAPY of 301,300 pounds and a LT WT of 138,700 pounds, for a gross rail load of 440,000 pounds. This was one of 12 cars (17779-17790) built under ACF Industries Lot No. 71-14188 for its Shippers' Car Line Division in August 1970, and they were initially leased to Uniroyal, Inc. for vinyl chloride service. The last trace report for this car was on the West Tennessee Railroad at Carroll, Tennessee in July 2006. Carroll is on the north side of Jackson and is the location of a couple of scrap yards, so we can assume the car did not leave there in one piece.
