C628s in the Bull Ring
A pair of Alco's lanky C628s wait in the Bone Yard section of the Bull Ring. The unit in the rear, #3110, was actually the class unit on the SP, delivered as #4845 in March of 1965, it later became the #7100 and then the #3110. Meanwhile, #3127 was delivered in April of 1965 as the #4864 before it became the #7117. These units were disliked by the SP crews and did not have a long life with the railroad. Today the exact spot where they are sitting is the fence that separtes Los Angeles State Historic Park from the Metro Rail Gold Line (which runs in the ROW to the left of the big Alcos).
