Burlington Northern #968362
End of the line. This flatcar started its life at CB&Q’s Havelock Shops in May of 1942 as CB&Q #92108. It and the rest of the class FM-14, CB&Q #92075 – 92349, spent its early days transporting fuselage sections for the Boeing B-29 bomber under special hoods referred to as “Bomber Boxes.” After a life in general service it was converted to an MofW flat #968362 and its deck was equipped to handled Univan containers. After the BNSF merger several MW cars came to the museum. This flat, along with a CB&Q boxcar, a GN tank car and Northern Pacific baggage car arrived in January 1998. The #968362 was used to store the remains of 1895 flatcar CTA #S-212 but never really found a purpose in IRM’s collection. It is sitting the de facto scrapping area on the curve leading to Yard 14.
