The formerly important Bowers Jct. is breifly alive with the passage of the Albany Turn. The rusty welded rail used to be the mainline (I beilive that was part of the old Oregon Electric) when BN was the owner/operator of this trackage, but after the Fleming trestle burned down, they abandonned it all and sold parts of it to Tri-Met and the P&W. The OE "main" turned into the light rail the runs from Hillsboro to Beaverton Transit Center, and from the old 26 overpass to Orenco Jct (near Hillsboro) it was all abandonned. From noreth of 26 to here, it remained in service for a few years, to service a customer, and I think they stored chip cars on it at one point. Once the customer dried up, the rail was lifted from US26 to here and used elsewhere on the P&W. There is quite a large wooden trestle just west of here, and Cornelius Pass tunnel a little further past there.
