Reminder of a Bygone Era
Once a common sight here at Whippany, the MCC operated steam trains here from 1965-1973 when they moved to the NYS&W line at Newfoundland and were replaced by the M&E operated Whippany Toonerville Railroad. Shut down in 1980, this railroad helped pave the way for the current Whippany Railway Museum as well as the preservation community in New Jersey at large.
