Most of the time, LIRR just ran with an FA on the west end. Occasionally they'd need to run a unit to an outlying location, and would tack it on the rear. Here we see an example, with GP38-2 270 bringing up the rear behind either 617 or 618, judging by the small number boards. The FA has just received a new coat of paint, replacing the gray with blue stripe that these units carried for the previous decade. |
