NYSW "MotoRailer" #1002 - New York, Susquehanna & Western  Contributor's Pick!
Interesting example of a 1940 American Car & Foundry doodlebug they called a "MotoRailer". Most "MotoRailers" like the IC "Land O' Corn" model were a two-unit diesel configuration with 225 hp engine and a top speed of 83 mph. No date was given on the photo but from its appearance, it appears to be relatively new and popular mode of transportation. This appears to be just a single unit, possibly with dual end controls. Note the billboard behind the front touting a direct route to Penn Station and Times Square. No photographer listed.

Jerry LaBoda General Great shot!!! How they were configured depended on the customer, with only the IC cars geing built as a two-car set. The MoPac, C&EI and M&NA cars were all singles with bi-directional cabs. Thanks for sharing the shot!!! 3/1/2015 12:32:56 PM
