RR City. Here is an original photo that I took of!the Pennsylvania Railroad's "Railroad City Limited" in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 April 1964. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #8609, #8610, and #8606. All are APm-24MS's built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 2,400 horsepower each; #8609 and #8610 were built in 1956, but #8606 was built in 1955. They are pulling tie 18-car "Railroad City Limited" into the Altoona Passenger Station after completing their journey around the Muleshoe and Horseshoe Curves. The 12th Street Bridge is vdsible in the background. |
