Excellent example of the the re-engineered and rebuilt K1sa class seen here at the Connellsville roundhouse getting an inspection by the yard crew. The Reading shops took ten of the N1sa 2-8-8-2's (#1800-1809) to rebuild as 2-10-2 Santa Fe type locos for freight service between 1927-29. Specs - new class K1sa, 62" drivers, 220 psi, 30.5x32" cylinders, engine weight of 439,900 lb, impressive tractive effort of 89,794 lb. All ten in the class were retired and scrapped in 1954. R.D.
