MSTR MP-15DC #14 - Massena Terminal RR, Arkansas
Nice b&w photo of Massena Terminal switcher #14. Built by EMD in November of 1974 for Point Comfort & Northern #11, it ended up in North Little Rock, Arkansas, painted in the Massena Terminal colors. Not sure why it was in Arkansas though. On the back is also written "on MP". Tom Beckett (see comments below) has tentatively identified the location as Jenks Yard in North Little Rock, AR. No photographer was listed but the pic was from the collection of Dennis Schmidt.

Tom Beckett General I didn't move to Arkansas til 2006, so don't know what was going on in Little Rock in 1977, but I'm going to guess this unit must have been in transit. Massena Terminal is in its namesake city in far northern NY, where there is an Alcoa plant. PC&N is on the Texas Gulf Coast. Ironically, both roads are now Genesee & Wyoming properties. There is an outside possiblity the unit may have been going to an industrial operation near Little Rock. The area around Bauxite, just southwest of Little Rock on the MP(Rock went there too) was mined for Aluminum for many years, though that is no longer the case. 6/21/2018 4:38:30 AM
Tom Beckett General BTW, I see a Mopac geep at far right. Looks like this was taken at Jenks Yard in N Little Rock, which is a system shop on UP, and still a busy place. 6/21/2018 4:39:46 AM
Tom Beckett General I just saw the Bausite & Northern album. Note the identical paint scheme. Bet this was either going to or from there, or was assigned there, and sent to NLR for work. 6/21/2018 5:18:17 AM
