Rock remnant  Contributor's Pick!       
After the Rock Island went bust in 1980, much of it returned to nature, but a few parts took on a second life where there was enough traffic to support operation. One such place was on the Choctaw Route in western Oklahoma, where segments of the Rock and some other roads castoffs became part of an operation called FarmRail. A couple of their ex Illinois Central diesels sit near the old Rock station in Elk City.
