PRR 2-10-4 #6466 - Pennsylvania RR
Waiting with its string of freight is PRR 2-10-4 #6466. The massive and powerful loco was built by PRR's own Altoona Shops in February of 1943, just one of an army of 125 of them. The loco generated an impressive 275 psi boiler pressure and created 95,484 lb of tractive effort making it a formidable force on the rails. No wonder that the Pennsylvania kept them around until the late 1950's even though diesels were solidly taking over the roster. No location was given for this photo taken by J.R. Quinn.
