Portraits 2. Here is a diesel locomotive portrait via Ralph H. Payne that was taken in Newark, Ohio, on 1 May 1949. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9317, a GS-4 switcher built by General Electric in April of 1949, rated at 380 horsepower, and retired in June of 1964 after just 15 years of revenue service. Partially visible at the left is PRR N-6B cabin car #980173. (#26 of 30)
