Portraits 2. Here is a diesel locomotive portrait via Ralph H. Payne that was taken in Circleville, Ohio, on 16 October 1948. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9339, a GS-4 switcher built by General Electric in September of 1948, rated at 380 horsepower, and retired in December of 1964 after just 16 years of revenue service. Note the "bull's eye" marker lamp on the hood! (#29 of 30)
