East Altoona. Here is an original 35mm color slide that was taken in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1948. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8259, an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the American Locomotive Company during August of 1916 and retired in February of 1959 after 43 years of faithful service. Partially visible at the left is the 17th Street Bridge in Juniata. The photographer's name and the exact date are not recorded. |
