Here is page 64 of a 78-page booklet published by Harry P. Albrecht entitled "Those Amazing Class 'D' Locomotives." It was issued originally in June of 1981. Revised Caption: "When originally built, it had spoked wheels. However, when backshopped, it came out with one set of solid wheels." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3191, a D-16B (4-4-0) "American" built in Juniata during 1906, rebuilt as a D-16SB in January of 1916, and retired in August of 1934 after 28 years of faithful service. |
