PRR 6506, GF-25A, c. 1965
Here is a post card via Peter Outerbridge entitled "Embraceable U." Caption On Reverse: "Pennsylvania Railroad's voluptuous U25C No. 6506 delivered 2,500 hp in a reliable new locomotive introduced in the mid-1960's. It was General Electric's first big 6-axle diesel and, as with many other full-figured diesel models, Pennsy was one of the first railroads to embrace it." Shown here is PRR engine #6506, a GF-25A built by General Electric in April of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded.
