CP 4-6-4 #2856 - Canadian Pacific
This is a beautiful example of the newer streamlined 4-6-4 Hudson that the Montreal Locomotive Works produced for the CP roster. This one was built in August of 1938 and went on to serve passenger service for nearly 23 years before being scrapped in May of 1961. Along the way, the entire class earned the priviledge of being labeled "Royal Hudson" with a crown insignia after the class carried the royal visitiors around Canada in 1939. Specs - H1d class, 75" drivers, 275 psi boiler pressure, 22x30" cylinders, engine wt of 354,000 lb and tractive effort of 45,254 lb. No date or location was given for the photo so approximates were used. This is a James E. Platt photo.
