From what I've seen before, units usually get spray painted reporting marks when they are moving to their final destanation (in this case NRE Silvis) to be scrapped. I suspect that most of the ex-WC SD45's will be parted-out and cut-up.

I've seen a lot of NREX units on the rails here in Montana. Cosmetically, a lot of 'em were pigs, but I'd guess their looks didn't much matter as long as they were mechanically sound.
