Newark. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train near Newark, Delaware, on 27 March 1965. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #4427 and #4416. Both are E-44's built by General Electric; #4427 was built in 1962, but #4416 was built in 1961. They are pulling a 116-car northbound mixed-cargo freight train with caboose #477600. The time is 4:13 P.M. (The highway bridge is marked "SR 31703.") |

Electric Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Enola, Pennsylvania, in August of 1968. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4427, an E-44 (C-C) built by General Electric in January of 1962 and rated at 4,400 horsepower. The name of the Hostler pictured here is not recorded. |
